Warrensburg – Lions Lake Initiative offers a day at the lake from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17. President Tony Monetti said the Meet at the Lake is designed to draw people to the park. “The primary objective is fun,” he said Monday. “The vision is to get the community out there.” The event will include games, arts and crafts booths, live entertainment, and food and beverages. Attendees can watch Warrensburg artist Dennis Yates paint a picture for auctioning at the event.
Plans are solidifying for a formal dinner and art auction at Hidden Pines Country Club on July 23. Monetti’s Restaurant will cater the event at cost, Monetti said. The cost is $50 per person for appetizers, a meal, music and the auction. The dinner is a prelude to a July 24, four-person scramble golf tournament at the club. Cost is $50 per person. Signup is at the Hidden Pines Country Club. Initiative members seek sponsorships and donated prizes. Businesses donating $25 will receive a sign recognizing their sponsorship of the Lions Lake Initiative. The initiative, raising funds to restore Lions Lake, has collected about $20,000 toward a $115,000 goal, Treasurer Tricia Brines reported. Donations can be made to a sub-account for Lions Lake at First Community Bank, or left at the Community Center. For details, contact Monetti at (660) 441-3045 or lionslakeinitiative@gmail.com.
